Debate Team

St. Patrick’s Debate Team offers an enjoyable and rewarding experience to students in grades 3-8. Our team competes in the Fenton Area Student Debate Club which is sponsored by the Fenton  Rotary.  This club includes students from the Fenton AGS Middle School, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, Lake Fenton Middle School and St. Patrick, Brighton. The debate program consists of monthly debate meets in October-December culminating in the Team War of Words (TWOW) and the Individual War of Words (IWOW) held in January and February respectively. Scholarships are awarded to the top 4 finishers in the IWOW ($250-$1000).

Participants in the debate program develop the ability to communicate effectively, research rigorously and think critically. Utilizing these skills inside and outside of the classroom teaches students the value of critical thinking, the ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas, to answer questions logically with clarity, and to think on one’s feet. If you would like additional information regarding the Saint Pat’s Debate Team, please contact David Kuzner  at  david.kuzner@raymondjames.com
